Micha's Promise - Film Screening, Violin Performance & Q&A

Honoring a father’s last wish. Sharing a story the world must never forget. Join us for a moving evening that tells the remarkable true story of resilience, hope, and the power of keeping a promise. "Micha's Promise" follows the extraordinary life journey of Michael Stivelman, a Holocaust survivor who, after losing almost everything, found the strength to rebuild in the distant and unfamiliar land of Brazil. Against all odds, he rose to become a successful businessman, loving husband, devoted father, author, and passionate Holocaust educator — honoring a sacred vow he made to his father on the last day they were alive together. This intimate documentary is more than a historical account — it is a testament to the human spirit’s capacity for rebirth, dignity, and the will to transform suffering into purpose. 🎻 Following the screening, experience a live violin performance inspired by the film's themes of loss, memory, and hope — bridging the past and present through music. 💬 The evening will conclude with an open Q&A session where we will reflect on the making of the documentary, its message, and its ongoing relevance today. 📅 Date: Thur. May 15, 2025 🕖 Time: 6:30pm 📍 Location: Brazilian Endowment for the Arts - Library - 242 East 52nd Street - NY, NY 💙 Free admission – space is limited. Please RSVP to reserve your seat.
