April 18, 2024 at 6 PM | Czech Center New York Film Screening of Olympic Halftime Q&A with director Haruna Hancoop and prof. Christopher Gaffney, Clinical Associate Professor in the Tisch Center for Hospitality in the School of Professional Studies at New York University The 7th edition of Echoes of Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival (IDFF) is schedulled to take place from April 15 to April 19, 2024. The screenings will be followed by Q&A sessions with the filmmakers. Screenings will also be held at our partner venues, the Maysles Documentary Center and UnionDocs. The documentary You Will Never See It All, directed by Štěpán Pech, offers a portrait of the conceptual visual artist Ján Mančuška, who died in 2011. Olympic Halftime, directed by Japanese-Czech documentarist Haruna Honcoop, depicts the impact that the Olympic Games have on their host cities, changing the urban planning of entire neighborhoods and forever altering their character. The third film, Photophobia, was awarded Best Czech Documentary Film at Ji.hlava and was nominated by Slovakia for the Film Academy Awards. Screenings of the last two films will be followed by discussions with directors Haruna Honcoop and Pavol Pekarčík.
