Originally formed in 2018 as The Richiman Trio, the band represented theKorea Blues Society at the 2019 International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis,Tennessee. While performing there, frontman Richiman experienced the powerof authentic American blues firsthand and knew it was his life’s calling. “We are a blues band from South Korea that wants to play the American style ofblues. We grew up in Korea but fell in love with American blues.” In 2021, the band evolved into Richiman and Groove Nice, replacing their bassistand developing a fresh, groove-oriented sound designed to get audiencesmoving. They returned to the IBC in 2022, where they made history as the firstKorean blues band ever to reach the Top 5 Finals, standing out among hundredsof performers from around the world. Their dynamic performances and authentic style have earned them opportunitiesto share the stage with blues legend Buddy Guy and several other major bluesartists during their shows in Chicago and across the United States—a testamentto their growing reputation in the international blues community. Richiman and Groove Nice released an EP titled “Memphis Special: One TakeLive,” a raw and powerful recording of their IBC finals set. They are currentlyworking on their debut full-length album, recorded at the iconic Royal RecordingStudio in Memphis, where Al Green and countless soul greats crafted theirtimeless hits. Engaging, masterful, and full of funk and soul, Richiman and Groove Nice deliverperformances that move both the heart and the feet.
