Daily Collage Exhibit - Trash Walk And Collage

Ian is inspired by the trash and everyday materials that are a part of our daily lives. From post no bills walls to cardboard boxes, he found a rhythm of different textures and materials throughout the city. Join Ian in a Trash Walk around Bushwick followed by collaging with found trash at Botanica Grove surrounded by Ian’s Daily Collage Exhibit. We will plan to meet at Botanica Grove and then go out on a Trash Walk and return to Botanica Grove. The Daily Collage Exhibit is a selection of collages by Ian McHale from June through September 2025. Starting in January 2025, Ian began a daily collage on a 3.5” x 5.5” page in a bound journal. Each day has its own page and each month its own journal. This exhibit features 122 collages out of his current 346. By the end of 2025 he will have 365 collages and 12 journals. What began as a challenge to push his art form has become a personal journal documenting his past year. Cataloging where he found the trash and why it caught his eye, it has become an opportunity to reflect on what was inspiring him. This is Ian’s first opportunity to exhibit his daily collages. While this exhibit is a small selection of his work, he is planning an exhibit to showcase his full series for 2025. Accessibility Info: Botanica Grove is at garden level which requires stairs down into the Gallery. Botanica Grove has AC/Heat but does not have a removable ramp or accessible bathroom.
