Opening Reception: Sick (Music) Center

Join us for the opening reception of the Sick (Music) Center at Recess, a space for inquiry, experimentation, and the evolving exploration of sick and disabled music. The event includes a gallery walk-through with artist Anna RG and a listening session at 4:30 PM featuring her multi-channel sound installation using air purifiers as instruments. Step into this living archive and witness the start of a public conversation about music, health, and imagination. CART transcription provided. Sick (Music) Center is presented as part of Recess’s Session program, that provides artists the resources, space, and support to realize ambitious projects in collaboration with the public. Access Note: All program space at 46 Washington Avenue is fully accessible for wheelchair users. Our restrooms are gender-neutral and ADA-compliant. Administrative offices are located up one flight of stairs, but we offer alternative meeting and workspace on the ground floor. Her performances and installations have been presented at The Kitchen, Performance Space New York, and Roulette Intermedium, among others. She is a co-founder of the Sick Time Collective and author of Listening from Bed: Notes on Sick Music (forthcoming). More Info below.
