The Elephant - Staged Reading

“A society will always progress to a certain point at which it will collapse in on itself. Progress is by definition change, and perfection is by definition repetition of the ideal, thus, perfection is the catalyst of imperfection. It is the harbinger of its own demise.” Synopsis: Haunted by her mother’s death, Clementine Carlisle tries to create a picturesque household utopia for her husband and children amidst a cynical society that has undone itself. During the day, she lives in a suburban paradise, but in dreams, she processes her trauma in conversations with her childhood plushie elephant, Ivory. Blaming herself for her mother’s death, Clementine struggles to distinguish her self-worth from her pursuit of perfection as Ivory tries in vain to save her friend. When a mysterious entity begins to stalk her, Clementine’s unsustainable paradise comes crashing around her, forcing her to face her past, an ancient deity, alternate lifetimes, and most importantly, herself.
