Guy Fawkes' Night Evensong, Burning Of The Guy, And Sausage Sizzle
Guy Fawkes' Night Evensong, Burning of the Guy, and Sausage Sizzle. Evensong is sung (to plainsong) according to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer with the 'Gunpowder Propers' appointed for 5 November. The Sausage Sizzle (with vegetarian options) then takes places in the courtyard garden, where the Guy will be burned. Guy Fawkes celebrations are a communal way of expressing the rejection of terrorism in all its forms and first came to Manhattan in the 1660s. More Info below.
