Zines For Lgbtq+ Stories

Showcase signup: [hidden]. Welcome to Zines for LGBTQ+ Stories! Join us at the Yarborough Branch, Austin Public Library for a creative gathering celebrating LGBTQ+ stories through zines. Let's all dive into the world of DIY publishing and share unique stories and experiences. This event is open to everyone, whether you're a seasoned zinester or a newcomer. There is free food, free henna, a live performance at 2pm, a line dancing lesson at 3PM, and free community resources! Each workshop will center a specific theme: Session 1 is LGBTQ+ Histories. Session 2 is Everyday Belonging (how we participate in community life, representation, and public space). Session 3 is Imagining Futures. Participants in these sessions will create individual and collaborative zines using provided art materials. The community showcase will feature displays of participant zines. 100-150 copies of a compiled zine anthology will be printed and distributed in the Austin Public Library, coffeeshops, and bookstores.
