Words & Music: A Conversation With Noel Stookey

Stookey has long used his position as a musician and songwriter to impact the world around him. Peter, Paul and Mary performed “If I Had a Hammer” and “Blowin’ in the Wind” at the 1963 March on Washington when Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech. Stookey is the co-creator of a diverse catalog of songs, ranging from “I Dig Rock & Roll Music” to “El Salvador”; perhaps his best known solo work is the “Wedding Song”, written for singing partner Peter Yarrow. During this conversation, Stookey will share with NYU students and the wider community personal insight into his decades of music-making, activism, and the cultural history of Greenwich Village. Arts & Impact [hidden] & Music is part of the inaugural NYU Arts & Impact Artist-in-Residence. More Info below.
