The Tao Of Abbey Lincoln

In 2024 I recieved the NYFA Women's Fund Grant for a project that I conceptualized called The Tao of Abbey Lincoln. I am excited to present the first full live performance/workshop of this piece at Weeksville Heritage Center in Brooklyn, NY. I have created new works using the unpublished poetry and prose of Ms. Lincoln combined with my own compositiones. Although Abbey is best known as a jazz vocalist, I am bringing her into the future through electronic music. Tao loosley means: The art or skill of doing something in harmony with the essential nature of the thing. I think of it as the philosphy of a thing or in this case, of a person. My goal is to bring to the fore, what was at the core of Abbey's way of being; her way of knowing.
