In 2005, elderly women activists, many of them grandmothers, protested the Iraq War in front of the Army Recruitment Center in Times Square and got handcuffed and arrested. These women, called The Granny Peace Brigade, have gathered to take action for peace dozens of times over the next two decades, in New York City and abroad, and have joined forces with other peace and justice groups to work on issues of common interest. We will celebrate this inspiring group with the premiere screening of a remarkable new documentary about them, by filmmaker (and Granny spouse) Ahmad Shirazi, followed by a discussion with the Grannies, moderated by Norman Seigel! Hearing assist devices are available. Rutgers Church is handicapped accessible. More Info below.
