Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy invites Texas state legislators and their staff members to a special lunchtime policy briefing at the Texas State Capitol on Monday, Oct. 20, from noon to 2:00 pm. Hear from Baker Institute Director David M. Satterfield and meet experts in public finance, health, technology, security, and more. This is a unique opportunity to meet our Rice-based scholars in Austin and explore their evidence-based, nonpartisan research on a broad range of Texas policy issues. The Texas Policy Forum will address some of the state’s most pressing policy challenges, including budget and tax reform, school-based health and education outcomes, the economic impact of research and innovation, cross-border and trade dynamics, and the growing influence of housing, food access, and infrastructure on community health.
