'it's Just A Fucking Opening' Zine Launch & Premiere After Party

Hosted at Tala Gallery (where we filmed the entirety of the project) and featuring a live by and Blesstonio (who stars as the DJ in the film) as well as another surprise performance, guests will be set adrift into the spatial and sonic atmosphere of ‘It’s Just a Fucking Opening.'About 'It's Just a Fucking Opening': According to Chicago International Film Festival this debut short by josh brainin, Camille Bacon, and Youssef Boucetta expounds upon "the usual anxieties plague upcoming artist Anisa as she dodges gossip from art scene contemporaries, questions the value of her work, and navigates flaring tensions in 'It's Just a Fucking Opening.'"About the Zine: Printed in collaboration with Robert Blackburn Printmaking Studio on iridescent crimson paper (serendipitously called ‘CTI Stardream Jupiter’) the zine dwells on the origins of our vision, tracing its materialization into the physical world. On top of citing key works that have lended velocity to our creative spirit, the zine includes essays by Bridgett M. Davis and Maya S. Cade contextualizing our film within a broader lineage. These writings cohabitate with behind the scenes images by Kendall Hill, an interview with our lead actress Ireon Roach, and blurbs by Legacy Russell, Amandine Nana, and Olukemi Lijadu, elaborating upon the nerve endings of emotion propelling the plot. This chorus of contributions provides an opportunity to linger in the atmosphere of the film in an analog capacity, away from or after the screen.
