Red Hook Climate Action: Barnacle Parade Poster Party

Thirteen years after Hurricane Sandy, Red Hook still embodies resilience. Join Resilient Red Hook, Red Hook Community Justice Center, Good Shepherd Services, students, neighbors, and friends for a hands-on poster-making party to gear up for the annual Barnacle Parade on October 29th—our community’s joyful march honoring recovery and pushing for a safer, more climate-ready waterfront. We’ll provide the art supplies and snacks. No art experience needed—just your voice, your ideas, and your love for Red Hook. We’ll kick off with a 10-minute mini teach-in on local climate action in Red Hook, then spend the afternoon making bold, beautiful signs together while sharing our thoughts and feelings about climate in facilitated discussions at each table. Emergency preparedness kits donated by DYCD (Department of Youth & Community Development)and Climate Preparedness Initiative will be available, while supplies last. We are coordinating our meet and march in the Barnacle Parade to gather together and build on our energy and momentum from our climate action session with Resilient Red Hook, Red Hook Justice Center and Good Shepherd Services on 10/17.
