Film Screening: Disability & Creativity

Disability and creativity are deeply intertwined; in fact, it’s our inaccessible world that often demands it. Join the Center for Transformative Media for a film screening of two short documentaries that show how people survive and thrive in a world that’s not built for them. Both films are produced by CAMD faculty. Films featured: “Simple Machine” (2025). Directed by Sara HendrenDescription: Simple Machine follows an architect and father tinkering with classical mechanics in his garage wood shop—and explores how his story taps the legacy of wartime technology, labor history, the mysteries of loss, chance, and adaptation, all in the inventive human body. “Rising Tides, Raising Voices” (2025). Directed by Jody SantosDescription: Indigenous Pacific Islanders with disabilities fight for survival amidst rising sea levels, advocating for inclusive disaster responses and sustainable futures. Please note: non-Northeastern attendees will need to register in advance and provide full names to be added to the Snell Library guest list. This event is co-sponsored by the Center for Design.
