11BC Serenity Garden and LUNGS Harvest Arts Festival presents: Michael Eaton & Dan Wick Jazz Duo! Eaton and Wick have played improvised music since 2005. This is their first duo collaboration.Michael Eaton (b. 1981) is a Brooklyn based saxophonist, composer, and educator active in contemporary jazz and free improvisation. Originally a native of Kansas City, Missouri, Eaton co-founded Mother Brain Records there. Mother Brain specializes in free improvisation, electronic music, new music, and hybrid genres. Michael’s latest jazz quartet recording, The Phenomenal, was released in 2024 on Mother Brain Records. It combined his ensemble, Individuation, with three special guests: Tim Hagans (trumpet), Dave Scott (trumpet), and Judi Silvano (voice). Michael has two duo releases, Paraphrase (2022) and The Transcendental (2024), with pianist Nicki Adams on the Denmark based Steeplechase Records. Michael has been a music educator for 20 years, working especially with the middle school age group, but also elementary school through adult learners. Dan Wick (b. 1983) has been an integral member of the improvised music scenes in Chicago and Boston. On keyboard and laptop electronics, he has appeared with musicians such as Forbes Graham, Brittany Karlson, and Nick Joliat at venues such as The Lilypad, Mills Gallery Boston, and the Washington Street Arts Center.
