Lantern Theater Company is partnering with the Young Friends of Wyck and the Johnson House to celebrate Philadelphia's jazz legacy with an evening of jazz and jazz-influenced performance from Philadelphia and around the globe. This program will take place outdoors on beautiful historic grounds of Wyck Historic House & Garden in Germantown. Opening acts feature Stephanie Cole and Braylynn Nahja performing jazz standards from the Billie Holiday songbook accompanied by Luke McGinnis, Christa Aikins performing DÆGURLAG (Icelandic Jazz) standards, and violinist Juan Yanez performing Venezuelan music with Latin jazz rhythms. Our headliner for the evening is Germantown native and renowned poet Ursula Rucker performing her unique style of spoken word with some of her favorite local musicians. Bring a picnic, blanket, and/or camping chairs and experience Philadelphia's legacy as a music center that attracts international talent and influences artists around the world. In case of inclement weather, the rain date will be Wednesday, June 25, and we will notify all registered attendees if we need to move this program to the rain date. More Info below.
