A unique ScriptHOPE addition, this exhibition displays the unspoken and unheard stories of a city connected by history, but separated by borders. Nacimiento de los Negros, a small town in Mexico, continues to celebrate Juneteenth as it was a freedom destination for the enslaved fleeing along the Underground Railrooad (to the South). This exhibition invites guests to imagine themselves as time travelers with an ability to connect with history and leap into the future. During a weeklong Exhibit from June 16 - 20, the Cepeda Branch Library will host a special exhibition highlighting Journey Through Time: Untold Stoires to Juneteenth from Texas to Mexico, An Exhibition curated by ScriptHOPE. The weeklong Exhibit culminates in a workshop held on Saturday, June 21, from 1pm-3pm with elevated interactive experiences. The Exhibit will feature historical insights, artifacts, and interactive displays to bring to light this hidden Texas history. Visit anytime during open hours to view this unique Exhibit in the main library area. Check the library website for open hours. More Info below.
