Renowned Pianist Nare Karoyan Performs Koharik Gazarossian (1907-1967)

The Armenian Music Program presents a lecture and concert dedicated to Koharik Gazarossian, Armenian composer and pianist. The event will feature acclaimed pianist Nare Karoyan, who is traveling from Germany to perform mostly previously unplayed piano works by Gazarossian. Like most of UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music’s programs, this event is FREE! Early arrival is recommended. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis. For more information about the concert, please visit [hidden] Surrounded by contemporary art, dozens of vinyl records and a piano, Nare Karoyan grew up in Yerevan. This artistic presence has left its mark on her to this day, leading her to collaborate with actors, writers, visual artists and composers. Trained at the conservatories in Berlin, Cologne and Karlsruhe, and a pupil of Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Pascal Devoyon, Nare has also developed a passion for chamber music and vocal accompaniment. She has made two CD recordings: the first one with the title ‘Shadowlines’ is juxtaposing music by Leos Janacek, Robert Schumann, Federico Mompou and George Benjamin while the second one is fully dedicated to the 24 etudes by the Armenian composer Koharik Gazarossian. This recording is the result of a search for cultural roots in a globalized world, a quest that fascinates her both privately and artistically. Featured image photographed by Danilo Floreani.
