Free Tour - Dirty, Scary, And Buried In Philly - With Seek, Explore, Wander

FREE TOUR - DIRTY, SCARY, AND BURIED IN PHILLY WITH SEEK, EXPLORE, WANDER DETAILS For those that do not know, I started my own tour and adventure company this year - Seek, Explore, Wander. Feel free to check it out at [hidden] As a gift to friends and members of the meetup I'm offering the group a free version of my Dirty, Scary, and Buried in Philly Tour. I've opened up the registration to allow guests but I do ask that you keep your RSVPs up to date and not to sign up unless you're fairly certain you can make it. If there's real demand for this I can and will schedule another night as I cannot take more than 40 people at a time or else we can't make all the stops. Additionally, I'm asking everyone to limit it to two guests per member of WOAH. And no tips required at the end, if you enjoy yourselves I simply ask you to leave me a positive review on Google, Facebook, Instagram, Yelp, or TripAdvisor. DESCRIPTION Every city has its secrets. Behind closed doors, underneath city streets, and buried in long forgotten graveyards, true history lies just beneath the surface or just beyond the threshold. Join us as we explore the darker side Philadelphia. From bank robberies, to sugar daddies, to mass murderers, to sightings of famous Revolutionary War figures prowling the streets at night, the city contains countless tales worth telling. The stories we share will leave you in shock, disturbed, frightened, in disbelief, and perhaps have you looking over your shoulder the next time you find yourself walking late at night through the city. Come with us as we SEEK out the most salacious and juicy stories from the city's long history, EXPLORE the hidden alleyways and long lost tales of life here over the past three plus centuries, and WANDER amongst the historical buildings that make our city world famous and often hide chilling and/or scary secrets Put on those walking shoes, grab a bottle of water, and bring a friend or two! CONDITIONS | EXPECTATIONS Please note - this is a city walk. You must pay attention to your footing as you go as there may be broken/damaged sidewalks, uneven pavements, cobblestone streets, pedestrians, bicycles, cars, etc. on our walk. While not a hike and while we'll have plenty of stops for us to take photos or for me to share history and stories of what we see, we do try to keep a good pace between stops and with a lot of turns we will need you, especially if the group is large, not to lag more than a half block behind us. BASIC INFO DAY & DATE: Friday November 1st START TIME: 9:00 PM (AND WE START ON TIME!) STARTING LOCATION: Independence Visitors Center ADDRESS: 599 Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19106 LENGTH: 3 Miles END TIME: Target is 11:00 PM PARKING & PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION I highly recommend downloading and using the SpotHero App. It's free and on a Friday/Saturday Night if you're willing to walk a few blocks to your destination you can usually get a spot in an indoor, covered garage for $15 or less for the whole night. Our meeting spot is conveniently located adjacent to the 5th Street stop on SEPTA'S Market-Frankford EL Line and just two blocks from Jefferson Station for access to regional rail lines to/from the suburbs as well as PATCO coming from New Jersey. GEAR: Sturdy shoes. Keep in mind whatever you wear may get dirty/muddy/wet on this depending on the conditions Water Snacks Appropriate clothing - hats, rain jackets, etc. as needed Phone | Car/House Keys | Wallet (as needed) Beer or other drink for before the hike. CAMERA!!!!! (OR PHONE!!!!!) BATHROOMS/BREAKS Unfortunately there are no bathrooms available at our starting/end point at this time of night...however if you arrive early enough you can use local restaurants/bars/stores - such as the Independence Beer Garden across the street. No real "breaks" on this walk except for all the times we stop to share history/stories with you all AFTERWARDS If folks want, we can stop by the Independence Beer Garden afterwards for a drink or two and a snack. CANCELLATIONS I do not cancel for inclement weather. It must be dangerous conditions during the tour or dangerous travel conditions to/from for me to cancel. If I ever do need to cancel or postpone I try to do so as early as possible. For this event I do ask that you try not to sign up, especially with guests, unless you're fairly confident you can make it. If you sign up and then drop out last minute and you've perpetually done that I will remove you from the group. Life happens so doing this once is a while is okay, but constantly doing it is selfish, rude, and a pain in the ass for both organizers and other members. More Info below.
