BOP Philly is back for our first 2024 event! Join us on Tuesday, April 30th at Triple Bottom Brewing Second Chances: Pardon Me Watch Party. Enjoy local beers starting at 5:30pm and stick around for the screening of a short documentary, PARDON ME, by Philadelphia filmmaker Shuja Moore. The short film showcases two Philadelphians suffering under the weight of their criminal record and pursuing pardons from the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons. A pardon is a legal mechanism that allows the governor of a state to wipe away a person’s criminal past. The film gives you an intimate look at the process in Pennsylvania and the financial, emotional, and social benefits to the community when the barrier of a criminal record is removed. PARDON ME cites pardons as an opportunity for states to repair the devastation caused to thousands of families and neighborhoods as a result of criminal arrests and the collateral consequences. The film raises awareness about the pardons process and how we can each support individuals in our communities as they work toward a more equitable future and true freedom. We are looking forward to raising awareness about pardons, showcase a powerful film, provide space to network and meet other community-oriented people, support a local business, and a new place to BOP around Philly!
