Events are free and open to all! RSVP HERE. *** The Filministes Festival was born in 2015 out of a desire to rethink and counteract the sexual, racial and cultural inequalities of the film industry and, more broadly, of our contemporary societies. Against this backdrop, the FF is taking the gamble of programming entirely devoted to women, trans, non-binary, racialized, indigenous, disabled, queer, lesbian and more. The concept of the project is to offer a quality counterweight to the traditionally widespread cinematographic offer. During the selection process, priority is given to films made by people who are under-represented in the film industry and who deal with realities specific to them. Each screening is also accompanied by a discussion with guests chosen for their knowledge or experience of the social, political and aesthetic issues raised by the works presented. These discussions with the public, to which over 250 people have contributed since 2015, make the FF an ideal space for sharing, relaying and advancing feminist ideas. The FF relies on a five-headed general and artistic direction, composed of Soline Asselin, Anne-Julie Beaudin, Gabrielle Doré, Maha Farah Elmir and Coppélia La Roche-Francoeur. Together, they work horizontally. They have jointly imagined the program of 7 editions. photo credit: Clémence Lesné More Info below.
