Euthanasia? Moral Or Immoral?

When our dog or cat is dying, it seems morally right to put the animal down to reduce its suffering. But when it is a human being, the morality becomes a lot more complicated. We are talking about euthanasia. Sometimes, it may be called assisted suicide. Many consider it moral or ethical. And many consider it otherwise. Physiscan-assisted suicide is legal in some states, but not legal in others. If the goal of morality is to reduce suffering, then euthanasia would be highly moral, right? It reduces suffering by ending a life that is inevitably going to end after unnecessary suffering. Isn't euthanasia murder? The word euthanasia, originated in Greece means a good death1. Euthanasia encompasses various dimensions, from active (introducing something to cause death) to passive (withholding treatment or supportive measures); voluntary (consent) to involuntary (consent from guardian) and physician assisted (where physician's prescribe the medicine and patient or the third party administers the medication to cause death). Request for premature ending of life has contributed to the debate about the role of such practices in contemporary health care. This debate cuts across complex and dynamic aspects such as, legal, ethical, human rights, health, religious, economic, spiritual, social and cultural aspects of the civilised society. article article More Info below.
