PLEASE be sure to read thru ALL of the hike details before signing up. Sondra will lead this BEGINNER / INTERMEDIATE hike on the numerous and varied (both unmarked/unnamed) trails of the Dreamy Draw Recreation Area. The trail selection varies each week. Length: 1.5-2.5 miles Elevation: 1,380 to 1,580 ft. (as in apx 200/300 elevation gain/loss) Trail Composition: Compacted dirt, loose rocks, gravel Difficulty: EASY to MODERATE WHAT TO BRING: WATER (1-2 liters any time of the year), hats and sunscreen in the summers and long sleeves/jacket during the cooler months. NOTE: Headlights/flashlights are necessary during the winter months as we will be hiking in the dark. MEETING LOCATION: The Dreamy Draw Recreation Area is located at the END of Northern, just East of SR-51. The park access gate closes promptly at 7:00 pm but the exit gate is always open. The group will meet at the top of the stairs by the restrooms. NOTE: Since this is a local weekly reoccurring hike, I will wait no longer than 5 minutes before leaving. Once the hike starts, I do not check for any comments as I need to watch where I am walking to avoid mountain bikers, tripping, snakes, plants that have sticky pokey things on them and of course other hikers. Also, please be considerate and drop off the hike if you are not able to make it. Leashed and well-behaved dogs are always welcome. DRIVING DIRECTIONS: If you are coming either North or Southbound on SR-51, take exit # 7 (Northern). Head east and Northern will lead you right into the Dreamy Draw Recreation Area. There is but one entry road with no deviation as you drive toward the parking lot. A large paved parking lot, drinking water and restrooms are available at the trailhead. More Info below.
