Pratt Manhattan Gallery is proud to announce the highly anticipated exhibition Amazonia , curated by Berta Sichel with assistant curator Patricia Capa. This compelling show will run from September 29 to December 9, 2023, with the opening reception scheduled for Thursday, September 28, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Amazonia features the exceptional work of 11 international artists: Javier Andrada, Claudia Andujar, Barbara Brändli, Federico Guzmán and Andrés Corredor, KIMIKA, Margaret Mee / Malu De Martino, Susana Mejía, Simone Michelin, João Musa, pablo sanz, and Sergio Vega. These artists employ mixed media and documentary practices to explore the multifaceted narratives of the Amazon, encompassing ecological, tribal, journalistic, and spiritual perspectives. The exhibition builds on the premise that addressing environmental challenges requires both ecological knowledge and cultural articulation. Drawing inspiration from Greg Garrad's book Ecocriticism , which offers critical insights into diverse perspectives on the natural environment, Sichel and Capa have crafted an engaging and thought-provoking experience that invites viewers to contemplate the complex relationship between humanity and nature.
