Siskel Film Lecture: Recent Trans Cinema

The Siskel Film Center has put together a remarkable lecture series called Digging Deeper hosted by Northwestern professor Nick Davis that culminates its spring session with an examination of transgender cinema. As the event description puts it, "Trans filmmaking has spread across even more genres, from rom-com to sci-fi. Trans performers have exerted stronger creative influence on movies they headline. Even some films with no directly “trans” characters or plots have resonated strongly in the community, pushing our understandings of gender and embodiment." In previous sessions Nick Davis had put together a masterful examination of the topic at hand - if this one is half as informative as his recent one on the Romanian film "R.M.N." it'll be well worth the trek to the Siskel to check it out! The event is free, and while there should be seats available if you walk up the day of the event, you can RSVP in advance to it from the following link: [hidden] NOTE: this lecture is associated with a recent film playing the Siskel Center, a Cannes Jury Prize-winning film from Pakistan called "Joyland": [hidden] More Info below.
