Remembering Leford James Williams: A Vigil For Healthcare Accountability

Join us on March 30th at 12pm-2pm and 5pm-7pm as we come together to remember Leford James Williams and raise awareness about the tragic events that occurred at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital. In March 2022, Mr. Williams collapsed in a Starbucks bathroom and was taken to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital where he was declared dead. Despite the hospital having the name and number of his sister as the "next of kin" and Mr. Williams also having his sister's contact information on his phone and driver's license, the hospital never accessed either source of information and the medical examiner conducted an autopsy without the consent of any family member. Mr. Williams' family did not learn of his death until months later, causing immense pain and trauma for the family. We urge the public to invite any press members or community leaders who may be interested in the case to attend. This event is not about seeking revenge against Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital, but about raising awareness about the importance of communication and proper protocol in healthcare facilities. We want to ensure that no other family goes through the same pain and trauma that the Williams family experienced. We will have a candlelit vigil to remember Mr. Williams and hear from members of his family about their experience. We will also have representatives from local organizations that advocate for patient rights and healthcare reform to speak about the importance of accountability and change in the healthcare system. We're excited to announce that we've set up a Big Cartel page featuring merchandise that will help us raise funds for awareness and policy change around Mr. Williams' story and the issues surrounding his death. Your support will help raise awareness about this important issue and ensure that the Williams family's fight for accountability and change is heard loud and clear. We hope you can join us in this important event. Let's come together to remember Leford James Williams and make sure that no other family goes through the same pain and trauma.
