Opus Cope Free Screening + Q&A @ Laemmle Glendale

LAEMMLE THEATRES presents a FREE screening of OPUS COPE on March 27, 2023 at 7:00 PM . David Cope was commissioned to write an opera in the 80's when he suffered a major composer's block. This sparked interest in an algorithmic partner named EMI, Experiments in Musical Intelligence, that could generate compelling works in the style of western classical music composers. Widely recognized as a pioneer of artificial creativity, David wields a body of work that spans art, astronomy, and literature, in addition to music. Featuring excerpts from the completed opera, the algorithmic composer imagines creativity through human and machine perspectives. Join us for a special screening and Q&A with director Jae Shim and Emmy-nominated sound designer and INDEPTH SOUND DESIGN founder Mike James Gallagher. There will be a reception at a location nearby with food and beverages following the screening. *Please note that tickets are LIMITED and based on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis.
