An Indie Press PéTanque Party

Over the past couple years of getting involved in the publishing community we have noticed that there’s rarely opportunities for presses to interact with each other or for writers to get to meet in person outside of fairs, conferences and the usual events. We wanted to create an event that would connect publishers, authors, and readers in a fun and low-stakes sort of way. When setting up our new office at Industry City, we stumbled upon a Pétanque bar called Carreau Club, which allows for folks to grab a drink and play a sport that (admittedly) we didn’t know much about at the time, but now love. At the same time, we had been discussing an event to bring together as many New York-based independent presses as we could and collectively celebrate the authors whose books are being released in the coming year. It turns out the Pétanque world has a similar sort of quirks as the indie press world, and we had the idea to invite some of our favorite publishers together to host an Indie Press Pétanque Party.
