Tropical Sounds Get Down: "Rise & Wind" Caribbean Edition

TROPICAL SOUNDS GET DOWN! Join A Trike Called Funk on Spectacle Island for a funky & festive trip through the Americas without ever leaving Boston Harbor! Each Tropical Sounds Get Down will run for two hours. The first hour will feature a dance presentation and/or class led by an instructor specializing in dance traditions from different parts of the Americas. For this one, that's our friend Keda aka Inferna, who will be teaching Dance Hall. The second hour will be an open dance party featuring music by a guest DJ specializing in the musical genres from those same geographic regions. For this one, that's our friend Tashane aka DJ Owtlaw, who will be providing the Caribbean vibes. TIMING (Sunday, August 14th) Ferry departs Long Wharf North at 10:30am and arrives at Spectacle Island at 11am. Tropical Sounds Get Down - Caribbean Edition from 11:15am - 1:15pm. Ferry departs Spectacle Island at 1:30pm and arrives at Long Wharf North at 2pm. TICKETS: Secure one of the 65 FREE ferry tickets to / from Spectacle Island for the Tropical Sounds Get Down by registering here on Eventbrite TRANSPORTATION & PARKING: While we recommend biking or taking MBTA or a ride share to the ferry's departure location at Long Wharf North A, if you decide to drive below are some nearby parking options: Atlantic Wharf Parking - $12 - 12 min. walk to Long Wharf - [hidden] (weekend rate) Lewis Wharf Parking - $25 - 6 min. walk - [hidden] The Chart House - $30 cash only - 1 min. walk - [hidden] MEET-UP: All participants should meet up here at the stone benches on Long Wharf A around 30 minutes before the ferry departure time. Just look for the Trike on site, and we’ll provide up to 65 free ferry tickets to everyone who registers in advance. FOOD: For events happening on Spectacle island from Fridays-Sundays, the Brato Brewhouse + Kitchen will be selling burritos, tacos, snacks, and more, and there will also be an ice cream cart selling soda, water, and chips on those days.
