He spent 6 years of his early life in Toxteth, Liverpool in the U.K. His love for music started as a kid, listening to his dad’s huge record collection– Funk, soul, jazz, disco and reggae. Nenim and his family returned to Lagos, Nigeria in 1988, where he got more exposure to highlife, Afrobeat and Afro-funk which was still popular during that period. He later graduated from the University of Lagos in 2007 and moved to Nasarawa State to serve his country under the National Youth Service Corps in 2008. While there he picked up deejaying, threw parties and played at a few local dance venues. In 2009, he moved to Abuja and continued with his craft.By 2011, there was an obvious growth in Nenim’s career as he secured residencies at great venues in Lagos like Surface Bar– Radisson Blue Hotel, Piccolo Mondo Night Club, Lagos Polo Club and more; spinning disco, house music and Afro-pop tunes. He also participated in the Lynxxx & Friends Pepsi Campus Tour; where he toured and worked with artists like Tiwa Savage, Davido, Black Magic, Sugar boy and others.Nenim traveled to New York to study Audio Engineering & Music production at SAE Institute in 2014. He currently owns 5th Circle Records Inc. He also hosts an internet radio show, “Seeds of Afro” which is aired on Radio Free Brooklyn. On the show he spins Afro-funk, Afrobeat, jazz, highlife and other types of live music as well as hosting musical artists like– Kaleta and Zem Audu of the Skatalites. Nenim’s career keeps on growing as he has been able to secure gigs at The Apollo and the 40/40 Club, to name a few. He maintains residencies at Shrine and Bembe (spinning throwback and new Afrobeats and Afro House tracks). He also moonlights as a content writer for Afropop Worldwide; where he had the opportunity to interview the likes of the legendary Afrobeat and jazz drummer– Tony Allen. Nenim is currently pursuing a Computer Science degree at Kingsborough Community College. #bembeafrobeats .................................................................................................................................................................................. #afrobeat #afrobeats #soca #kompa #salsa #merengue #balifunk #samba #bachata #reggae #reggaeton #bembe #bembebrooklyn #bembenyc #bembeparty #bembeglobal #bembeevents #bembefestival #djembe #brazil #cuba #puertorico #jamaica #trinidad #africa #ghana #senegal #nigeria #africanmusic #afropop #angola #southafrica #kompa #soca #calypso #zouk #tanzania #gambia #kenya #cameroon #westafrica #ivorycoast #rdcongo #zimbabwe #kalimba #ngoni #bougarabou #rhythm #botswana #congo #uganda #membranophones #chordophones #aerophones #idiophones #percussion #makossa #galala #assiko #etighi #pantsula #kuduro #sabar #bembe #bembebrooklyn #williamsburgbrooklyn #southside #brooklyn #nyc things to do #tonight #musicistherapy More Info below.
