My Voice Theatre Presents "Scenes Unseen"- It's 20th Summer Production

Map Location

Many people think that the creative arts only arrived in our community with the gentrification of Bushwick, however, the reality is that they have always been here, and RiseBoro Community Partnership's Education Division has been an essential component in the creative life of Bushwick since 1989. My Voice Theatre has been a proud part of that legacy since it was founded in February of 1996. This year, My Voice Theatre celebrates our 20th annual summer production, 20 summers of using theatre to help youth address some real issues in the community and in their own lives. As part of this celebration, for the past four weeks, eight young people have been writing and rehearsing a new play, "Scenes Unseen". The play gives voice to scenes and monologues which were written for shows over the past 20 years, but, for many reasons, were not performed. This is their time to shine. The play also included pieces written by this summer's company. We would love for you to come and experience what it is that My Voice Theatre has been doing for the past 20 years, and I have attached a flier for the show. Bring your family, friends and co-workers. We have two evening performances at 6:30pm on August 14th and 15th, for those who are working and cannot attend during the day. My Voice Theatre is supported in part by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council, by the New York State Council On The Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and NYS Offices of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.
