New York, May 2019.- New York Restoration Project (NYRP), is pleased to present “Evidence of Movement” an exhibition of site-specific, outdoor works created by award-winning artist Andrea Arroyo. “Evidence of Movement” features a series of large-scale, site-specific works executed with repurposed materials and thoughtfully integrated within the natural environment of plants, grass and other elements of each garden. Andrea Arroyo’s lyrical and thought provoking works bring attention to pressing issues like the environment, women’s rights and immigration. “Beauty is Revolutionary” Andrea Arroyo About the artist: Andrea Arroyo is an award-winning artist working in a range of media including public art, painting, drawing, illustration and site-specific installation. Her work is exhibited internationally and is in private, corporate and public collections around the world. Public art and commissions include projects for New York Restoration Project, The Morris-Jumel Mansion Museum, the New York Women Foundation, El Museo del Barrio, The International Museum of Women, The MTA/New York Subway, The NY School Construction Authority, and The Women’s Rights National Historical Park. Honors include New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships, Global Citizen Award Artist, Clinton Global Initiative, United Nations Award for Political Art, Cuba Biennial-Political Satire Award, 21 Leader for the 21st Century and Outstanding Woman of New York. She has received multiple grants from the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, the Puffin Foundation, UMEZ, the Harlem Arts Alliance and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Her artwork has been published extensively including in on the cover of The New Yorker and The New York Times, and has been the subject of over two hundred features in the international media.
