Shakespeare Downtown's Hamlet At Castle Clinton

Hamlet will run from June 13-23 - Thursdays-Sundays from 6:30pm to 9:00pm - tickets are free and available the day of the performance at the castle starting at 6pm. There will be seating for 250 people a night. Shakespeare Downtown is a new free Shakespeare theatre at Castle Clinton at The Battery. By staging these free outdoor performances at Castle Clinton, audience members experience the plays how they were originally done at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre 400 years ago – in the open-air, in the round, on the water. The actors wear Elizabethan costumes and perform inside the castle walls where we create a theatre with chairs, audio, and lights. With 250 seats a night, Shakespeare Downtown presents the most accessible Shakespeare in the Park in New York City; and a new American Globe Theatre.
