Chinatown, The Reel/Real Story: A Big Read Film Screening

Join us for a free film screening of the film Chinatown (1974) as part of our Big Read 2019 celebration. The film screening will take place after a brief presentation touching on stories of immigration and gentrification. Take part in the NEA Big Read by enjoying this year's selection, The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears by Dinaw Mengestu. There will be a display of books and artifacts from the Los Angeles Public Library & The Chinese Historical Society of Southern California beginning at 12:30 pm in the Taper lobby. As all Los Angeles Public Library programs are free of charge, it is our policy to overbook. In the case of a FULL program, your free reservation may not guarantee admission. We recommend arriving early. Space permitting, unclaimed reservations will be released to standby patrons at approximately fifteen minutes before the event starts. More Info below.
